MENTORING
Mentoring
Goals of MACH's Mentoring program:
- To provide ongoing emotional support
- To insure individual attention
- To model healthy coping and problem solving skills
- To provide knowledge or hands-on experience in/about career fields
Methods to Achieve Goals:
- The program will be made available to interested students;
- Students will be matched to adult or older adolescents by areas of
interest for ongoing mentoring
- Ongoing mentoring requires a commitment of monthly contact initiated by
mentor, once a trusting relationship has been established the contacts may
be more infrequent depending on perceived need
- Mentors will meet with the students at the designated centers and may
arrange specific activities to be conducted off-site
- Contact between student and mentor will be through MACH Academy
- Mentors will be required to attend orientation session prior to be
assigned
- Mentors will be required to commit for at least a year with each new
student
- While actively engaged, mentors will be required to file monthly report of
contacts, evaluation of success and/or problems as well as attend quarterly
meetings with MACH Academy staff
- A list of short term resource providers will be maintained by MACH Academy
to meet specific needs and or goals and be available to mentors
- Resource providers will be asked to evaluate program twice yearly
