 MACH Contract Instructors & Volunteers

MACH Academy has brought together a strong group of professionally trained individuals who are truly interested in providing education and recreation to our youth.    The following is a listing of instructors and qualifications they bring to the program:

Mike Harden, (President/CEO)- Mr. Harden holds a Masters of Science in Computer Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College.  He is a certified Internet/Intranet professional and also received a professional certificate in Web Development & Administration from Learningtree International.   Mr. Harden received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University.   Harden is a USPTR certified Tennis Professional, and has provided tennis instruction, mentoring and personal skills development training to MACH  participants since 1992.  Mr. Harden was Captain of the Men's 5.0 1997 USTA National Championship Team.   He is the winner of the 1999, 2000  and 2001 American Tennis Association Men's 35 Doubles National Championship .   He serves as Program Director of the Augusta National Junior Tennis League chapter.  Mr. Harden is a Life member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) & the American Tennis Association (ATA).  He is also a member of the Wilson Advisory Staff.  Mr. Harden has worked with and trained state, sectional and nationally ranked junior players.  Mr. Harden is one of the original founders of MACH Academy, Inc.

Betty Jones, (Executive Director)- Ms. Jones has a Bachelor of Science degree  in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She has previously worked as Executive Director for the Art Factory, a community arts school that serves inner city and disadvantaged youth. Prior to the Art Factory, she served as Program Director for the Central Savannah River Girl Scout Council. Betty has over thirty years of service to youth and the community. Her duties include: Financial Management (grant preparation and corporate solicitation), ensuring that the program meets the customer’s needs, planning and management oversight for the program, securing consultants and other support staff, assisting with recruitment efforts for participants, volunteers and funding. In addition, Betty also assist with planning and implementing program events, identify and utilize community resources, generate internal and external publications, develop data base for tracking progress of participants,  prepare needed reports, attend meetings, community events and activities.  

Mary Harden, (Program Administrator)- Ms. Harden holds a Master of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  Ms. Harden received an Associates of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia and an Associates of Arts in Nursing from Georgia Southwestern College.  Mary has extensive experience dealing with adolescents, working as Director of Mental Health and as a Nurse Manager on an Adolescent Psychiatric Unit.  Mary provides education for participants in the area of healthy eating and tobacco-free lifestyle.  She provides administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of various programs.  Additionally, she assist with coordinating thee activities of support staff, editing grants and bookkeeping.

Jacqueline Wilkins (Program Assistant)- has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Education from Augusta State University. She has been with MACH Academy, Inc. since 2009. She has served as a volunteer and Ameri*Corps VISTA Member for MACH Academy, Inc. She currently provides administrative support, publicity, assists with grant development, academic support sessions and bookkeeping.

Donnie Campbell, (Vice President)- Mr. Campbell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fayetteville State University in Business Administration.  While attending Fayetteville State he was a member of the tennis team and served as team captain his senior year.  He has been involved in tennis for over 28 years as a player, coach, tennis instructor and fan.  Mr. Campbell currently serves as the committee chairman of the United States Tennis Association, South Carolina Tennis Association Multi-Cultural committee and is a member of the Southern Tennis Association Minority Tennis Participation committee.   Additionally, he founded and serves as the Program Director of the North Aiken National Junior Tennis League chapter.  He also served as the chapters Junior Team Tennis Coach.  Mr. Campbell has been certified by the USPTR as a professional Tennis instructor and is a Life Member of the USTA.  In addition he holds a certification of training from the National Youth Coaching Association.  Since 1992, he has provided tennis instruction and personal development to MACH participants.   Mr. Campbell has assisted in training state and sectional ranked junior tennis players.

Henry Taylor (Secretary/Treasure)- Mr. Taylor serves as a volunteer Fitness & Conditioning coach for MACH Academy.  Mr. Taylor has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Criminology.  He has a master's degree in Social Work from Florida State University.  The former Seminole earned All American honors as a linebacker and was Captain, MVP and four time Letterman.  Following his collegiate career, he played two years of professional football with the Ottawa Roughriders Canadian Football League.  He has been an avid tennis enthusiast for the past 23 years and has served his community as a volunteer coach in little league sports for the past 10 years.  He brings a positive attitude, great work ethics and discipline.  

Mark O’Neal (Tennis Instructor)- was born in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Richmond Academy. He holds an AA Degree from Hutchinson Junior College, BS Degree from Missouri State University. Mark has served as a High School Football and High School Tennis Coach. He also served as a professional football coach in Europe. Mark is a USTA USPTR certified tennis instructor. Mark has served as a volunteer and Ameri*Corp VISTA Member for MACH Academy, Inc. He serves as a tennis and fitness instructor for in-house and outreach projects.  Mark O’Neal (Tennis Instructor) was born in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Richmond Academy. Troy Moore (Program Assistant)- is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Foster Moore Jr. He is a former MACH Academy participant and has been affiliated with MACH Academy’s programs and services since 2000. Troy is a graduate of Harlem High School, Harlem Georgia. In 2010, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Winston-Salem State University. While attending Winston-Salem State University, Troy was a member of the University’s Men’s Tennis Team. Some of the accolades that Troy has received include: Men’s Tennis Scholarship, member of the University Beta Alpha Psi Society, Rookie of the Year honors, Captain of the Men’s Tennis Team, and Honor Graduate (Cum Laude). Since graduating, Troy has worked as an Accountant/Government Compliance Specialist in the Government Compliance group at Savannah River Remediation (SRR) Troy has not forgotten his roots; he is currently providing tennis instruction and mentorship to the MACH Academy Technology and Tennis for Life project.

Cody Kelly (Program Assistant)- began taking tennis lessons at MACH Academy when he was 12 years old. He played competitively for more than 9 years and won several tournaments. He attributes his junior tennis success and love for the game to Coach Michael Harden and other MACH Academy coaches. At the age of 18 he became a Program Assistant with MACH Academy to provide Quick Start Tennis sessions for participants 3-9 years of age. This was his first job and he has been very committed and successful in carrying out his assignments.

Lonnie White- is Presently the Tennis Director of the Moultrie Recreation Department.  He is a USPTA certified tennis professional, and has assisted in the development of players on all levels for the past 20 years.  Mr. White has won National Championships with the USTA and the American Tennis association.  Mr. White has been inducted into the Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame and currently provides tennis instruction in our Satelite site in Moultrie, Ga.

  Donald Moody- Mr. Moody is the Chapter Coordinator for the National Junior Tennis League and Director of Grassroots and entry level programs for MACH Academy in Aiken, SC.  He has served as a High School Tennis Coach for four years.  Mr. Moody currently serves as the County Coordinator for the USTA Schools Program.    He is a USPTR Certified Professional, USPTA Certified Professional and a USTA member.  Mr. Moody has successfully completed the USTA level one Sport Science Competency Test.  He is also a member of the U.S. Racquet Stringers Association.  Mr. Moody is First Aid/CPR qualified by the National Safety Council.  Don has assisted in training state ranked players.

Leonard Bush- Leonard holds a certification with the National Youth Coaching Association and has been very active as a volunteer with the Aiken Parks and Recreation Department.  He has completed the USPTR Tennis Teacher Workshop training and is currently involved with the North Aiken NJTL chapter.  He has assisted in training state ranked junior players.
