Life Skills Development

We weave the nationally recognized USTA NJTL First Serve Life Skills curriculum into all program offerings to emphasize and encourage positive character development, a sense of belonging and personal achievement. Hands on activities provide positive interaction and promote social skills development through team building and tennis fitness to help increase self-esteem, awareness and personal confidence levels.

Character Education

Young people today are faced with more choices than previous generations.  Every child must make some decisions daily without adult involvement therefore students must be armed with the knowledge and moral compassion they need to make the right choices. Character Education sessions use the Six Pillars (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship) in weekly hands on activities to encourage students to always do the right thing.

Chess Club and Instruction

Playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention and achieve superior academic performance.  Chess is extremely popular among our participants. Instructors bring the benefits of chess to students in a manner that is both fun and engaging.  We invite students 6 – 18 to join us and experience the exciting world of chess.

Book Club

The goal of the Book Club is to promote  and encourage the  joy of reading  by discussing and exploring various genres of literature in an effort to broaden the  knowledge of students, as we enhance their vocabulary, inference skills and socialization skills. We encourage students to commit to reading daily. In addition to the reading they are asked to make notes, such as questions, comments, and vocabulary notes for discussion at the meetings to help ensure thought provoking discussion sessions.
