EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS MACH has been able to successfully recruit volunteers for our tutorial, academic, technology and tennis programs. Our volunteers are community leaders, college students and business owners with math, science, business, sports and engineering backgrounds. These volunteers serve as excellent role models for participants by encouraging them to stay in school and obtain an education. Report Cards are reviewed along with conferences with parents and schools on academic performance to determine the areas of study that should be emphasized. Participants are assisted with areas of study that they have difficulty with along with reinforcing basic reading, writing and math skills. Program participants are required to participate in the tutorial program and remain in good academic standing in order to continue in the programs.
Personal development skills are enhanced for MACH participants by developing program participants computer skills, self discipline, etiquette and poise. These skills are developed through exposure from MACH sponsored field trips, hands on exposure and special guest speakers. Literacy MACH Academy's Literacy Center offers the motivation and flexibility necessary to meet the diverse needs of today's students. Activities and services are designed, managed and planned to give students the opportunity to make choices about their learning. The Literacy Center also provide opportunities for parent participation, social collaboration, allow student participation on a variety of levels, and integrate success into each student's reading experiences. The center provide a classroom structure that allows instructors/teachers to assess students progress regularly by engaging students in meaningful and purposeful literacy activities. Additionally, MACH's Literacy program encourages intergenerational literacy and seeks to accomplish the general goal of supporting families in working with their children, both to attain the instructional objectives of the schools and to reinforce positive attitudes toward education.
